Love Song
by Jon Kolvenbach

Directed by Sam Ellis

All of a sudden the love songs make sense

Beane lives alone in a dark, shabby room and owns little more than a cup and spoon. His isolation is broken only through contact with his stressed and work-obsessed sister, Joan. When a burglar permeates Beane’s solitude, he and his sister are forced to redress the balance of their lives. This dazzlingly witty and provocative play explores our most base desires and impulses in a modern world.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School presents
Debris
by Dennis Kelly

Directed by Anna Girvan

Like mushrooms babies grow in rubbish…I know this to be the truth. Because I found one.

This evocative play explores the uncertain origins of a brother and sister, who have been born into a brutal and motherless world. Caught in a bubble outside of time, they question their dysfunctional upbringing with pathos and wit. Kelly's gripping text addresses themes of belonging and abandonment with sensitivity and beautiful artistry.

Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me
by Frank McGuiness

Directed by Hannah Drake

The pears.  I’d forgotten the pears.

An Englishman, an Irishman and an American are taken hostage in Lebanon. Stripped of their own clothes, belongings and contact with the outside world, they must rely on humour, imagination and each other to survive. Based on real events, Frank McGuinness' play is a haunting account of evil in our time.

Stepping Out and Fallen Angel in Association with Dreamweavers presents
Vampire Nights
by Conor McPherson & Crysse Morrison

Vampires are everywhere!

As ‘True Blood’ and ‘Being Human’ demonstrate, our fascination with the vampire myth is as strong as ever

This darkly comic double bill features two plays with strange and disturbing new takes on the undead theme. ‘St. Nicholas’ is by one of Britain’s most successful playwrights, Conor McPherson, many of whose plays have a supernatural theme (The Weir, The Seafarer). ‘Love Bites’ is by local novelist Crysse Morrison whose short plays ‘Thursday Coma’ and ‘Your Time Starts Now’ were a hit with critics and a sellout success at the Alma last year.

Not for the squeamish …

"Entertainingly silly...an assured showcase from a student troupe that hasn't been seen on the Fringe for 31 years. Let's hope they don't leave it so long next time." (Steve Bennett, Chortle)
